I could give a number for how much my characters trust yours, too.

And anything else you can think of.

Or I could ramble at you here later! I dunno! Because I'm not really capable of forming more than three sentences that relate to one another right now. Ahaha. What was I talking about?

Date: 2006-12-19 09:36 pm (UTC)Given that Hisoka is, well, Hisoka, I’ll just briefly address a couple of random things here. ^_^
Hisoka is probably the person that Tatsumi trusts the most. Yes, more than Tsuzuki. What complicates Tatsumi’s relationship with Tsuzuki is that Tatsumi doesn’t trust himself with Tsuzuki, which impedes his ability to keep himself open to him. Meanwhile, Tatsumi trusts Hisoka with Tsuzuki, which has to be one of the biggest things he can do. As I’ve mentioned in the past, he has a lot of respect for Hisoka, admires him, even. Considering all of the shit that he’s been through, Hisoka is a relatively stable person, and he has a responsible personality. Because of the age/experience difference, Tatsumi feels a responsibility toward Hisoka, but he really does view them very much as equals.
...regarding your dad. ♥ Ah, given that I’ve pulled Tatsumi from before the Kamakura Arc, if Kurosaki Nagare showed up in camp one day, Tatsumi’s reaction would be… very guarded and professional. His reluctance to take the Kamakura case is telling, I think; he really doesn’t want to get involved. The fact that there are a lot of people in camp (i.e. he wouldn’t be isolated with him in a very small, exclusive population, as he was in Kamakura) and that he isn’t supposed to be directly investigating him would allow him to keep more distance; he’d be working on damage control, mainly. That being said? Nagare fits what I’ve deemed to be (based on what we see in canon and what his personality would suggest) to be Tatsumi’s physical and emotional types: pretty but very much distinctly male and an emotional disaster that will do him nothing but harm (…I never said that his type was healthy or what he should want or wants to want, it’s just what he does). Hisoka just aging up to look like Nagare would probably cause Tatsumi to think that he was very good-looking and then feel guilty about thinking that. Hisoka turning into Nagare would potentially be a complicated thing, depending on how long it lasted and how much distance Tatsumi would be able to keep.

Hotness: ..doesn't go there. Which is to say, mostly objectively and completely devoid of any context, repression, etc... probably a 6. (Too young!)
Wakaba
So! Wakaba! Tatsumi was surprised to see her show up in camp, and while he’s naturally glad to see a friend, he’s increasingly worried about the state of things back home. There are the obvious things: Terazuma having no one to turn him back in the usual way, there being a shortage of active shinigami in the field, etc.. But also, the fact that she showed up accidentally (like Saya and Yuma) creates some conflicting types of anxiety. On the one hand, if camp is interfering with the world at home, well, you know, MULTIVERSE INSTABILITY CAN’T BE A GOOD THING. On the other hand, though, if camp is somehow above (or at least equal to) the powers-that-be at home, that would mean that Enma Daioh-sama could lose his hold on Tsuzuki and Tsuzuki would be able to escape having to return home – a train of thought that naturally opens a whole other can of worms.
As far as trust goes, I think that being one of the older shinigami means that she’s one of his closer colleagues. While I recall that you were going with post-WWII, nevertheless, I think that shared experience counts for a lot, especially given how not many shinigami probably stick around that long. They’ve probably, like, had tea together a lot in the past. Maybe baked cookies together. Or not, because while Tatsumi is quite a cook, I don’t exactly see him as the cookie-baking type, but. You know.

Hotness: ...um. An objective, theoretical 7? She's a cute girl, and Terazuma should be appreciative, even if Tatsumi isn't.

Date: 2006-12-19 09:44 pm (UTC)Enjolras
I’d been failing at getting Enjolras out for a while, so not much has changed from what’s in the essay thingy (http://patria-ou-mort.livejournal.com/15355.html#cutid3), which was pretty general, anyways. But to respond to what you said... well, Enjolras doesn’t like getting poked to loosen up, but he actually does like getting poked in the head! Umeda usually has interesting things to say, even if he can be a jerk sometimes, and Enjolras enjoys talking to him a lot.
And regarding the trust score given below, as relatively well-adjusted as Enjolras is, he’s still a (relatively) normal, human kid without any special powers or fancy technology, is from a pretty stable social situation where kids aren’t packed into giant robots at age 15 so that they can save the universe, and here he is in a zombie camp filled with ninja and death gods and falling moons... It’s reassuring to have someone there who both is similar in that way and seems to have a pretty good handle on the situation. Enjolras wouldn’t trust Umeda with little things at all because Umeda is a jerk, but he totally trusts him with the big stuff. (As in, for example, wouldn’t trust that Umeda wouldn’t mock him mercilessly and take blackmail pictures of him being a pink flower, but would trust that he wouldn’t let him, you know, die or anything.)
Trust: 9
Hotness: 4 (...that's a high number. Rly. It means he actually registers Umeda as... like... an individual human being. Or something.)
Maladict
Hey, there, Doc! Maladict was initially wary of Umeda because of how Umeda sussed out his secret almost immediately and Umeda’s casual but pointed way of poking him with it struck Maladict as threatening. Nothing came of that, though, and Umeda turned out to be the type of person Mal really likes: smart, straight-forward, down to earth and not above being a little evil. Mal tends to hold himself at a distance from people and, despite usually displaying a friendly and open demeanor, is really slow to trust. Umeda is at the top of his trust list at camp.

Tatsumi
Doesn’t know him beyond him being on staff at the hospital. Has a positive-neutral opinion, as the hospital staff is such an important, dependable part of camp. If he ever found out about Umeda’s romantic backstory, though, he would... probably keep an eye out for Umeda? Because, you know, has sort of been devoted to one guy for the past, oh, fifty years or so, so a little bit of sympathetic been-there-done-that.
(Also, I was re-reading the day-in-the-life Tatsumi sidestory a bit back, and it was all, like, "Despite Tatsumi being cold and grumpy, everyone knows that they can depend on him!" or something, and I was just, like, "...hey... I think... that reminds me of someone..." XD)

Pleasant and, as far as Mal knows, no more psychotic than anybody he shares his regiment with at home, so. He’s sharp, Mal recognizes that, and perhaps a little on the shady side, so while he liked the random tea with the zombies and would enjoy dropping in on him every once in a while, Hakkai’s too much work for him to want to hang out with a lot.

Tatsumi
He’s seen Hakkai around, and he knows that he’s one of Sanzo’s colleagues, which boosts the trust rating a little. Doesn’t really know or care much about him beyond that, but the Sanzo connection is enough for Tatsumi to go out of his way a little for him, if something comes up.

He's very uncertain about Marluxia! On the one hand, he is still extremely interested in what Marluxia was talking about -- his plans, his goals, etc.. On the other hand, however, what Enjolras has seen of the Nobodies has caused him to view them -- Axel, Larxene and Marluxia, that is; Zexion is rather low-profile compared to them -- as rather shifty. To say nothing of Marluxia himself, who seems a rather suspicious character.
As I mentioned previously, I went through a sizeable period of failing with Enjolras. He’s an easy character for me to play... as long as I have a minimum amount of brainpower. Which, for a good while, I didn’t, thanks to being eaten by school and other RL stuff. This especially affected his interactions with characters like Marluxia, as I just avoided them because I felt that I wouldn’t be able to do them justice at all. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE CHANGING.

Hotness: 1
Maladict
He's sort of lost interest in Marluxia! For a while, he was wary of Marluxia and the Nobodies because they displayed strange powers that he'd never seen before and that made him rather uncomfortable. Marluxia, especially, made him uncomfortable because he seemed both powerful and very untrustworthy, which is something that Maladict's been on the receiving end of before and doesn't want to repeat. It's Mal's M.O to put up a cool front and do the alpha male posturing as much as possible, though, so he didn't want to feel as though he was running away. Recently, though, Mal has interacted with Dante a few times, and Dante both can kick his ass and doesn't set off the Skeeve Meter like Marluxia does, so he's happy with his casual pursuit of this new interest.

Tatsumi
I feel as though I should be saying something with an exclamation mark here! So, Tatsumi got off to a really bad start with Marluxia. There was Marluxia threatening one of his co-workers, which is something that Tatsumi reacts very strongly to. And when they actually talked for the first time, Marluxia managed to get under Tatsumi's skin and poke too near to some emo buttons for comfort -- Tatsumi had only recently gotten to camp and he'd had a really bad year (canonically, the guy he loves having a mental breakdown, being kidnapped by a psychotic rapist doctor and trying to commit suicide, and then camp causing four of his co-workers, including aforementioned guy and one of Tatsumi's closest friends, to lose contact with the folks back home for months) and it was not something he needed plzkthnx. Recently, the incident with Kyouya has told him that Axel and Marluxia can really be trouble. However, while he thinks that Axel and Marluxia’s reactions were totally inappropriate, he recognizes that Kyouya probably accidentally stepped into the deep end of the pool – that while he might not have been aware of what he was doing, Kyouya nevertheless walked into it himself. All of the PSAs about Nobodies and such have interested Tatsumi, given how he’s a human-based entity himself – someone still around because of guilt and regrets from his lifetime - and has a few personal existential issues that are being very firmly repressed.

Date: 2006-12-28 07:03 am (UTC)Tatsumi arrived at camp on 8 July 2006. His main concern was getting here, finding out what had happened to Tsuzuki and Hisoka, and keeping things running as smoothly as possible until they were able to get the hell out of Dodge. Any big impressions were made on him via his co-workers – Francescu mentoring Hisoka, Marluxia whipping out the scythe after being innadressed. But Tatsumi settled into camp relatively quickly, something helped by the fact that so many of his co-workers were here. It was almost like home!
With the situation now framed thusly, Dee was a good co-worker; he was pleasant to talk to, practical, not insane, actually did his job, etc.. Probably something like Wakaba in the office (if not as emotionally involved due to shared experience, etc.) – not as close of a connection as to someone like Hisoka, but sort of a "oh hi there other sensible person we’re so put upon how’s your day" thing.
Additionally, as he talked more with Dee, Tatsumi learned that Dee worked as a cop and was happy with a partner back home. Also, Dee appeared to be in his late twenties. (With his in-camp birthday, he’d been 29 and turned 30 even, though I think you said that you were going to ret-con that.) Now. Imagine that for a guy who died at the age of 29, works basically for detectives of the dead, was one of those dead detectives for a while, royally fucked things up with his partner whom he loved (and still loves) and generally has had not much go right for him.
It just… was nice. To see that things really do work out for people. Especially for someone who was becoming something like a friend.
And then Tatsumi de-aged.
From what I have dubbed the "Into the Woods" thread:
T: I like being able to take care of myself.
D: Everyone does. But sometimes ya just gotta let other people do it for ya.
T: And when those people fail, then what?
D: Then there's probably other people ready an' waitin'. 'Sides, kids shouldn't hafta take care of themselves. That's what us adults are for.
De-aged!Tatsumi was incredibly wary of Dee, who seemed normal enough when he first met him but then, when they talked more and then when Tatsumi headed out into the woods, struck him as a naïve, loud-mouthed fool. After all, the things Dee was saying were things Tatsumi had seen be proven false – he was a kid who had to take care of at least one adult in his life, and there wasn’t anyone waiting in the wings to take care of him. When Dee showed how sincere he was, though, that made de-aged!Tatsumi extremely uncomfortable. Because yeah, it was nice and it made him want to trust Dee, but he was not just a sixteen-year old guy but also well on his way to becoming the emotard we all know and love today.
So the de-aging came to an end, and Tatsumi was thankful about how willing Dee was to just sort of let it all slide, because Tatsumi had been so much more vulnerable, physically and emotionally, in that state that… he just wanted to be able to go on as if it had never happened, basically. Also, because he remembered everything that had happened, he knew that Dee was one of the people to whom he’d said things that would allow them to figure out that there was something up with his age, so the less said about it, the better.
Despite all of the usual let’s-pretend-that-never-happened, it did make Tatsumi more open to Dee, in the sense that, for instance, Dee has already seen Tatsumi use his shadow powers, so there isn’t any sense in pretending that they don’t exist.

Date: 2006-12-28 07:04 am (UTC)The mistletoe incident. Ahaha. The entire thing made Tatsumi extremely uneasy, and yes, this is related to what Tatsumi think of Dee and their relationship, because when Tatsumi gets uneasy with himself, he gets uneasy with other people. Tatsumi has basically not thought of himself in a romantic/sexual context for many, many years and, following that, didn’t think of people in relation to himself in that way. For him, romantic/sexual is, by (personal) definition, unsafe territory. Given that Dee had been one of the safest relationships that Tatsumi had, it was rather unsettling for him.
Yes, it was mistletoe-induced, camp effect, etc., but as Bikky pointed out, how the effect plays out differs from person to person. With a female co-worker, Tatsumi got a peck on the cheek. With a male friend, Tatsumi got a make-out session against a wall. (The fact that the two other main incidents that very evening were with the teenage boyfriend of a friend’s boyfriend and his trauma-riffic ex? DIDN’T HELP THINGS.)
But again, after that, they were able to ignore it and go on as usual, which Tatsumi counted as a success. So things are good again. Tatsumi is content.
…and you had said Tatsumi’s thoughts on Dee and their relationship, but I’m going to chime in because we all know that Tatsumi can’t be trusted.
My prediction is that the current situation will eventually fall apart. Tatsumi can’t indefinitely maintain the balance of being close enough to be friends but casually distanced enough to effectively keep Dee out of everything beyond his surface, present life, especially in a place like camp where improbable events are always popping up to poke at things. Either a more rigid sort of distance will set in or Dee will find out how much Tatsumi is actually sort of a basketcase. Camp just… doesn’t allow for the sort of stasis that can be achieved at home. I can’t predict which way it will go, just that, eventually, a decision will have to be made. Or, if Tatsumi gets his way, something will make the decision for him. Even if the decision is not to decide.
Also, he’s not acknowledging it yet, but Tatsumi is not-thinking that he’s using Dee as a place to run away to. Dee doesn’t know what he is, what he’s done, any of it. When he’s hanging out with Dee, it’s almost as if he’s escaping from… himself. And Tatsumi knows that he does the running-away thing and he’s ashamed of it and he keeps on doing it anyways. So, there’s a bad-ping there.
