Relationship Meme: The Musical!
May. 29th, 2007 08:15 pmOnce upon a time, there were some songs that I couldn't get out of my head for a while because every time I heard them, they reminded me of a couple of Tatsumi's current relationships in camp. So the story here is that it's a regular relationship meme for all of my characters -- Enjolras, Maladict (Pell, I'm going to answer you back in yours, I swear, I'm getting to it!) and Tatsumi -- with the bonus of me trying to find a song to go along with my response. Or, if I'm particularly braindead (or just tired of trying to type without using my left thumb owowow), at least a song. Or if I'm hard-up for finding a song for the relationship, at least a song that reminds me of your characters.
Basically, you're going to get something. Hopefully, it will involve singing. Believe me, if it were possible to send dancing over the internet, I'd try to include that, too.
Here were the culprits that got me started on this:
Tsuzuki
The Weakness in Me - Melissa Etheridge
you make me lie when I don't want to/ and you make someone else some kind of an unknowing fool/ and you make me stay when I should not/ are you so strong or is all the weakness in me
Gravity - Vienna Teng
this is the same place, love/ no, not the same place we've been before/ hey, love/ I am a constant satellite/ of your blazing sun/ my love/ I obey your law of gravity
Watari
How to Save a Life - The Fray
he will do one of two things/ he will admit to everything/ or he'll say he's just not the same/ and you'll begin to wonder why you came/ where did I go wrong, I lost a friend/ somewhere along in the bitterness
The Scientist not because of the title guys ._. - Aimee Mann (live) (original by Coldplay)
nobody said it was easy/ it's such a shame for us to part/ nobody said it was easy/ no one ever said it would be this hard
EDIT: And because there were issues with the file I uploaded for the Tatsumi FST, here's a different version (1995 Revival Cast) of A Secretary is Not a Toy.
EDIT 2: ALSO, I'm totally not responding in order because then I'd get bogged down something awful. SOMETIMES INSPIRATION MUST STRIKE.

Not quite perfect, of course, as this song is actually sung from a father to his son. But more than even what we see at the end of the Kyoto arc, Tatsumi really sees Hisoka as someone with a future. Part of it is Hisoka's relationship with Tsuzuki, of course, but Tatsumi really does respect Hisoka in his own right, too. Especially with all that Hisoka has been learning and his ability to follow Tsuzuki anywhere, Tatsumi sees Hisoka as a better person than he is in a lot of ways -- succeeding in places that he'd failed.
BONUS!
Family (http://www.sendspace.com/file/59brsl) - Dar Williams
in the lonely house of Adam's fall/ lies a child, it's just a child that's all, crying/ let your love cover me/ like a pair of angel wings/ you are my family
Whenever this song comes up on my playlist, it makes me think of Hisoka/Tsuzuki.

Maladict loves being a dick to Abel. Part of it is just "let's poke at the holy man who's supposed to be in a position of authority here" and part of it is specifically "Father Abel Nightroad is fun to poke." But there really is a certain sort of affection involved; he never intends to be malicious (and he's quite capable of being that). He thinks that Abel's a good guy and... well, if someone were successfully trying to fuck Abel's shit up, there probably wouldn't be anything that Mal could do -- and Mal is aware that Abel is capable to some level above the presented one of the capslocking, spazzing priest (though he hasn't a clue as to how very much above), especially since the incident with Radu and Dietrich -- but it's the thought that counts, right?

Hard Times, Come Again No More (http://www.sendspace.com/file/g67pz0) - James Taylor
'tis a sigh that is wafted across the troubled wave/ 'tis a wail that is heard upon the shore/ 'tis a dirge that is murmured around the lowly grave/ oh hard times come again no more
Tatsumi enjoys talking to Kid because, despite his odd habits, he's a surprisingly level-headed and sensible, er, kid. It's what seems to be Kid's general attitude toward life that... Tatsumi is concerned about it, but has difficulty arguing it as he sort of shares it. But Tatsumi also sort of hates himself, so just because he holds a certain attitude doesn't mean that it's true for other people who aren't horrible people, especially when they're young and, as far as he can tell, un-traumatized like Kid. So he just likes to keep an eye on Kid, keep relatively up-to-date on how things are going for him. There's a bit of a feeling of responsibility.

The fact that Dee and Tatsumi are friends continues to crack me up. Odd couple much? Which made me think of Rod and Nicky, which, of course... XD And, I mean, it's true! Dee's bi!
Breathe Me (Four Tet remix) (http://www.sendspace.com/file/gac3se) - Sia
hurt myself again today/ and the worst part is there's no-one else to blame/ be my friend/ hold me, wrap me up/ unfold me/ I am small/ and needy/ warm me up/ and breathe me
The sexy hips compelled me. No, really. I had been thinking something along the lines of You've Got a Friend in Me (http://www.sendspace.com/file/35con6), but then this one popped up on my playlist and I think that it's more fitting (especially since I already covered the sunnier side of things with "If You Were Gay"). Tatsumi has really relied heavily on him during the couple of times in the past months when everything seemed to be falling through. Even if he hasn't opened up to him completely, talking, while important, wasn't even the object then -- it was just having somebody there that was so vital.
